At our laboratory in Brits (South Africa), we are looking for a SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNER

a key role between Demand and Production Planning for our in vitro plant propagation

 

The breeding and propagation operations take place at our modern nurseries in Rijsenhout, the Netherlands and in our state of the art laboratory in Brits, South Africa. Van Zanten Breeding is the leader in the market for Alstroemeria.

This is a fulltime on-site position, based in Brits, South Africa. Start date May 1st, 2026.

 

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the Long-term and Short-term planning for some of our crops.

You communicate between Demand planning and stock initiation in The Netherlands.

You ensure that the mother stock level is in line with the demand. Traceability and risk planning is key in success in this role.

Regarding the short-term planning you will be reporting on stock availability to guide demand planning and reporting on any shortages and surplus during production season.

SENIOR BREEDER, a breeder with a passion for cytogenetics

 

Your responsibilities

As Senior Breeder, you play a key role in the development of commercial varieties and genetic material in our strategic crop Alstroemeria. You’ll collaborate closely with the breeding team, trait development team, TC technology team, and commercial departments to develop innovative, winning varieties.

You create a long-term breeding vision and strategy, based on market developments and leveraging advanced breeding and data technologies. In collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, you lead breeding trials and make data-driven decisions. You report on genetic progress and performance of selections under development.

You work in international and multidisciplinary teams, including colleagues from sales, marketing, production, and external research institutes. Since our trials are conducted globally, travel is part of the role. You report to the Breeding Team Lead, with your base in Rijsenhout, The Netherlands.

Bulb Production Manager, Rakaia in New Zealand

Van Zanten Flowerbulbs Ltd. is looking for a:

Bulb Production Manager

In this position you will be responsible for growing and processing lily bulbs at our location in Rakaia, New- Zealand. We grow our bulbs with two contract growers in the vicinity of our company. You coordinate everything with our contract growers and execute cultivation plans from planting to harvest, taking into account environmental factors. You ensure the correct application of techniques and methods and take appropriate measures for the benefit of and the quality of the bulbs. You are also responsible for the processing and storage of the high-quality planting material to ensure optimal results year-round.
In this position you will report to the General Manager of Van Zanten Flowerbulbs in New Zealand. The total team in Rakaia consists of 7 employees who are supported in the busy period by 80 seasonal employees.

 

We are looking for:
• You have completed an agricultural education;
• You have experience with an affinity for-the agricultural sector, preferably in the direction of growing and processing lily bulbs;
• You have knowledge of mechanization for processing the bulbs;
• You have Practical agricultural experience in the agricultural sector, particularly in growing and processing lily bulbs (or similar crops).
• The key competencies are planning and organizing, stress-resistant and quality-oriented. A strong commitment to quality and attention to detail is essential.
