At Royal Van Zanten, we continue to develop our Multiflora varieties step by step. Through multi-year, data-driven trials across Europe, we test and refine varieties under regional conditions. One belief guides us: a strong multiflora starts with the right match between genetics and climate. What thrives in the Netherlands may require different traits in Central/Southern Europe or North America – and that’s exactly where the power of targeted breeding comes in.

Central Europe: Encanto – reliable and well-balanced
This coming season, we’re introducing the Encanto series for Central Europe: a robust multiflora with a uniform, rounded habit and natural flowering in the late to extra-late segment (week 40–41). Encanto combines a decorative flower type with blooms of 4–5 cm and medium vigour, creating an attractive, compact plant in pot sizes from 17 to 23 cm.

Perfect for outdoor cultivation, Encanto fits seamlessly into Central European growing and sales schedules. The series is available in orange, pink, white, and yellow – colours that work across the autumn retail assortment.

Southern Europe: Allegra – new and climate-focused
For Southern Europe, where warmer conditions require extra adaptation, we introduce the Allegra series. Selected for performance under warm and intense climates, Allegra flowers extra late under natural day length, producing a uniform, decorative bloom with a good balance of growth and flower setting.

Allegra is also suited for outdoor production in pot sizes from 17 to 23 cm, offering a wide colour range: orange, pink, yellow, white, purple, and red. This makes it ideal for both local market demands and export opportunities.

Targeted breeding, moving forward together
Encanto and Allegra show that our Multiflora series is not a fixed concept – it’s a continuously evolving assortment, tailored to region, climate, and market needs. Trials under a variety of climatic conditions are a key part of our breeding approach, allowing us to refine varieties that make a real difference in practice.

Royal Van Zanten continues to invest in breeding with a focus on climate adaptability, cultivation reliability, and commercial value – today and into the future.
